Robert M. Meier, M.D.
Radiation Oncologist
Dr. Meier is the medical director of the Swedish Cancer Institute at
Northwest Hospital. In nearly two decades of practice of radiation
oncology, Dr. Meier's interest has been in the conformal delivery of
radiation therapy, both in radioactive implants and in stereotactic
radiosurgery.
Dr. Meier's areas of research and publications include stereotactic
radiosurgery, prostate brachytherapy and intensity modulated
radiotherapy. He is the principal investigator of the Swedish Cancer
Institute's CyberKnife radiosurgery prostate-cancer study. He is a
member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and
Oncology, Washington State Radiologic Society and the CyberKnife
Society.
Dr. Meier received his medical degree from the University of
California in Los Angeles. He completed his residency at the UCLA
Department of Radiation Oncology, and is board certified in radiation
oncology by the American Board of Radiology. Prior to coming to the
Pacific Northwest, he practiced radiation oncology at the Palo Alto
Medical Foundation. For 15 years he taught at the Stanford School of
Medicine as an adjunct clinical assistant professor of radiation
oncology. He has practiced at the Swedish Cancer Institute, the
Seattle Prostate Institute and the Northwest Gamma Knife center since
1997.
